Gayle Forman was born on June 5, 1970, in her hometown, Los Angele, California. She attended school and college in California. Gayle worked as a freelance correspondent for several publications such as Cosmopolitan, The Nation, Elle Magazine, and in 2002, she went on a world tour with her husband, Nick. With them visiting a total of 64 countries and Gayle writing about her best and worst country experiences, Gayle began picking interest in young adult stories.
After her tour, Gayle published her first young adult novel, ‘Sisters in Sanity.’ Gayle Forman has two children with Nick, and they currently stay in Brooklyn, New York.
Literary Career
Gayle Forman started her career writing for Seventeen magazine, with most of her articles focusing on social issues concerning young people. After working for Seventeen magazine, Gayle became a freelance journalist and worked for various publications, including Details and Jane. After her tour with her husband, Gayle became interested in writing novels, and in 2007 she released her first novel, ‘Sisters in Sanity.’
After publishing her first book, Gayle Forman wrote her second book, ‘If I Stay,’ which rapidly catapulted her to the limelight.
