Castor’s Personality

Castor is bold and brave. Despite knowing the consequences he would face if caught, he still decides to defect to the side of the rebels. It is possible that his motivation to defeat the Capitol comes from the Capitol’s treatment of his brother, who was condemned to a life of slavery tending to the underground utility pipes at the Capitol. Castor is, therefore, eager for vengeance for his brother’s fate.

Castor is highly creative in his work. He knows exactly when and what to film in order to get the most candid footage. It is due to his excellent work that District 13 was able to produce several top-notch propos.

Castor is a loving brother. He is willing to go above and beyond for Pollux. He has learned sign language to be able to communicate with him. Sometimes, he has such a good connection with his brother that he is able to understand him without any need for language.

Castor’s Physical Description

Castor is a big, burly man with sandy hair and a red beard. He resembles his brother in several ways. He has blue eyes and nails that are bitten very closely. Because of the camera equipment he carries around himself, he is described as an ‘insect’ by Katniss.

Who plays Castor in ‘The Hunger Games’? Castor is played by actor Wes Chatham in ‘The Hunger Games’ while his brother, Pollux, is played by Elden Henson. ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise is directed by Francis Lawrence and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth.

Castor’s Early Life

Are Castor and Pollux siblings in ‘The Hunger Games’? Yes, Castor and Pollux are siblings in ‘The Hunger Games’. They look out for each other since their early lives and love and support one another.

Castor was born and brought up in the Capitol. His only known family member is his brother, Pollux. At some unknown point, Pollux got into trouble with the Capitol for rebellious activities. As a result, he was turned into an Avox and forced to perform slave work in the underground sewage system of the Capitol. He worked there for five years before Castor was able to buy him out. It is said that in all these five years, Castor’s brother never saw the sun.

Castor in the Second Rebellion

Castor and his brother, Pollux, defected to District 13 during the Second Rebellion. Here, both of them work alongside Cressida and her assistant Messalla in the film crew. As such, Castor is responsible for shooting scenes with Katniss after she agreed to become the Mockingjay

Katniss describes the two brothers as being insect-like, as they are covered with camera lenses. Castor constantly tries to capture candid footage from Katniss whenever he believes that she is about to make a powerful message.

Towards the end of the rebellion, Castor is assigned to Squad 451, which is the sharpshooter’s squad that includes Katniss Everdeen, Gale Hawthorne, Peeta Mellark, their commander Boggs, and Castor’s brother Pollux, among others. The squad is tasked with making their way into the Capitol. Castor is, therefore, responsible for capturing footage of the squad as they begin to infiltrate the Capitol.

On their mission, the squad loses several members to the Capitol pods.

“If the wave was that powerful, then it may have triggered and absorbed other pods in our path.”

People stop to consider this. Pollux makes a few quick signs to his brother. “It may have disabled the cameras as well,” Castor translates. “Coated the lenses.”

Castor and Pollux prove to be invaluable assets to the squad due to their knowledge of the Capitol.

Castor’s Death

Castor and the squad are forced to retire underground when the Capitol starts hunting them down. In the underground sewers, Castor’s brother, Pollux, guides them around the tunnels. Unfortunately, President Snow realizes that the squad is in the tunnels, and he sends Peacekeepers as well as lizard muttations to kill them.

The squad gets caught in a battle with the lizard mutts, which are part-human, part-reptile, and incredibly powerful. Castor is killed by the lizard mutts. His brother and Cressida are the only ones from the film crew to make it out alive. It is presumed that Pollux later grieves his brother’s death.

One, two—Mitchell and Boggs lost on the block. Three—Messalla melted by the pod. Four, five—Leeg 1 and Jackson sacrificing themselves at the Meat Grinder. Six, seven, eight—Castor, Homes, and Finnick being decapitated by the rose-scented lizard mutts. Eight dead in twenty-four hours. I know it happened, and yet it doesn’t seem real. Surely, Castor is asleep under that pile of furs, Finnick will come bounding down the steps in a minute, Boggs will tell me his plan for our escape. To believe them dead is to accept I killed them.

Castor and Pollux

Castor and Pollux are named after twin brothers from Greek and Roman mythology. The brothers in the myth come from the same mother but different fathers. The fathers are Tyndareus and Zeus. Because Castor’s father is Tyndareus, he is mortal, while Pollux owes his immortality to Zeus. True to form, Castor dies in the ‘Hunger Games’ universe, while Pollux lives on. How does Castor die in ‘The Hunger Games’? Castor is killed by the lizard mutts in the underground sewers of the Capitol. Although Katniss, the protagonist of the story, does not notice how he dies or when he dies, she concludes that he is killed when the Star Squad is trying to escape from the lizard mutts.
