Context Matters: Consider the historical, cultural, and social context in which the literature was written. Understanding the time and place in which the author lived can provide insights into their intentions and the issues they were addressing.

What helps you understand books?

Engaging in discussions with others who have read the same literature helps me understand books. Sharing diverse perspectives and interpretations enriches my understanding and allows me to see the text from different angles.

Tell us a funny story about you and literature.

At the age of 11, I was assigned to read a paragraph aloud in class. The passage contained the word "rendezvous," which I confidently pronounced based on its spelling. The resulting laughter from her classmates left me seething with embarrassment. However, my teacher approached me later, recognizing that my mispronunciation stemmed from being an avid reader. She astutely guessed that I had encountered the word in my reading adventures. As we began discussing my favorite authors and books, my embarrassment melted away.
