Rose Granger-Weasley was born in either 2005 or 2006 in Great Britain. She was the daughter of Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. She had a younger brother named Hugo Granger-Weasley. She was first seen in the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in the King’s Cross Station, London, where she had come to board the Hogwarts Express. Her cousin Albus Severus Potter was also boarding the train, and they were joining Hogwarts in that year as they were both eleven years old.

Rose also appears in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Lego Harry Potter, and the video game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. She is also mentioned in Pottermore.

Birth

Rose, also known as Rosie, was born in Great Britain in the year 2005 or 2006 to Hermione Jean Granger and Ronald Bilius Weasley, two of Harry Potter best friends. Both her parents were very famous in the Wizarding World as they, along with Harry Potter, formed the Golden Trio that was crucial in taking down Lord Voldemort. Rose had a younger brother named Hugo, who was born two years after her.

Childhood

Rose’s childhood was most likely smooth and fun, as is illustrated by her parents’ treatment of her in the King’s Cross Station, where we first see her. Even later, in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, it is shown that her mother, Hermione, loves her a lot and pays a lot of attention to her despite being the Minister of Magic, which is one of the busiest jobs in the wizarding world. Her father, Ron, seems to have become very cheerful and funny, making jokes quite often and keeping his kids cheerful too.

Rose was close to several of her cousins, most notably Albus Severus Potter, because they were both the same age, their parents were very close, and they probably met frequently. She was also close to the other two Potters, James Sirius Potter and Lily Luna Potter.

Rose had a very strong relationship with her parents and her brother, and she also seemed to have a good relationship with her cousin Albus Potter, at least until they joined Hogwarts. She also seemed to get along well with most members of the Potter-Weasley extended wizarding family.

King’s Cross

Rose was seen boarding the Hogwarts Express at King’s Cross station on 1 September 2017. This was her first appearance in the Harry Potter series. She was going to Hogwarts for the first time, as was her cousin Albus Potter. They had both come there with their parents, Harry, Ginny, Hermione and Ron.

When the Weasleys saw Draco Malfoy and his son Scorpius Malfoy, who was also attending Hogwarts for the first time, Ron jokingly told Rose to try to score more than Scorpius in every test. However, Hermione seemed to not support this possible rivalry and instead told Rose that it would be alright if the two became friends. To that, Ron retorted that she should not get too close to Scorpius and that Arthur Weasley, her grandfather, would not let her marry a Pure-blood.

Ron was also grateful that she had inherited her mother’s brains and her mother’s intelligence. She did seem to have a little bit of her mother, both in terms of appearance and taking a lot of pressure and anxiety into being really good at studies.

Ron also joked about the Sorting Ceremony, asking Rose to somehow be sorted into Gryffindor and saying that she would be disowned if she got into Slytherin House. However, he was joking, and it was obvious from her parents’ demeanor that as much as they would have liked for her to be in Gryffindor as they were too, they wouldn’t mind whichever house she was in.

Hogwarts Years

Rose and Albus boarded the Hogwarts Express together, and Rose searched for a compartment to sit in, hoping that she would find her future friends there, just like her parents did. However, they ended up meeting Scorpius Malfoy who was sitting alone in a compartment. After a few moments of uncomfortable silence, Rose decided to go to another compartment, but Albus decided to stay there. It is possible that the rumors about Scorpius being the son of the Dark Lord are one of the reasons that nobody wanted to sit with him. However, Albus doesn’t seem to care even if Scorpius is Voldemort’s son, with the former joking about the latter having a nose and claiming that those rumors are rubbish. The two eventually became best friends.

In her first year, Rose was sorted into Gryffindor’s house, but Albus and Scorpius were sorted into Slytherin. In her second year, Rose became a chaser for the Gryffindor Quidditch team, as was evident from her flying skills. However, Rose and Albus slowly grew distant. Rose tried to become friends with Albus again by talking to him and telling him about the Time-Turner that her mother and the other Ministry officials, including Harry, had confiscated from Theodore Nott, but Albus didn’t encourage her as he felt that Rose’s parents had probably told her to become friendly with him.

However, Albus and Scorpius would use this Time-Turner to travel back in time and try to save Cedric Diggory but would end up making major changes in their timeline and preventing Ron and Hermione from falling in love or marrying. This implied that Rose didn’t even exist in this timeline. However, they later changed it back, and Rose returned to the timeline.

Rose and Scorpius

Scorpius seemed to have a crush on Rose ever since he met her, but Rose didn’t like Scorpius much. Despite his several attempts to talk to her and flirt with her, she did not encourage it. Since Draco Malfoy was an arch-enemy of her parents when they were in Hogwarts, and since there was a rumor that Scorpius was Voldemort’s son, it is possible that Rose didn’t like him much.

However, she eventually warms up to him, especially after she realizes that Scorpius and his father, Draco, helped defeat Delphi, the daughter of Lord Voldemort. Despite having a lot of father-son issues, both Harry and Draco eventually try to become better fathers to their sons after this episode of defeating Delphi and preventing her from bringing Voldemort back.

Rose would smile at Scorpius’s attempts to flirt with her and once called him bread head during Potions class, denoting a possible friendship between the two in the future.

Childhood Friendships

Rose and Albus were around the same age and were therefore brought up from an early age in each other’s company as their parents were very close. Therefore, the two became close friends by the age of six. They would spend a lot of time together and have developed traits from each other. However, as the two joined Hogwarts, they started getting distant as Albus was sorted into Slytherin House and Rose was in Gryffindor. Furthermore, Albus was close friends with Scorpius Malfoy, the son of Draco Malfoy, who was also rumored to be Voldemort’s son, making it difficult for Rose to be friends with him.

So, Rose and Albus’s childhood friendship wore off slowly, and they were no longer close. This is a very common occurrence in many cases. Childhood friends do become distant either literally because they move to different places or emotionally and mentally because they have changed as people and want different things in life. This still shouldn’t devalue the time spent together in the past and can be seen as memories worth cherishing rather than separation.
