Dominique Weasley was born to William Weasley (Bill Weasley) and Fleur Delacour in Great Britain or France in the early 2000s. She may have been born in the Shell Cottage, the Burrow or in some place in France as her mother Fleur was French. She was their second daughter. Their first daughter was Victoire Weasley. They had another son named Louis Weasley. Dominique was one-eighth Veela, as her mother’s grandmother was a Veela herself. Dominique’s sister Victoire was also one-eighth Veela.
Dominique Weasley went to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry like most of her family members. Dominique Weasley had several cousins, including Rose Granger-Weasley, Hugo Granger-Weasley, Fred Weasley II, Molly Weasley II, James Sirius Potter, Albus Severus Potter and Lily Luna Potter, all of whom went to Hogwarts as well. According to some sources, Dominique was sorted into Gryffindor house on 1 September 2015, the day she joined Hogwarts. However, it is not certain if this is considered canon.
Etymology
Dominique is the name given to some children born on Sundays in some catholic countries. It is the female version of the Latin name Dominic which is obtained from Dominicus and can be loosely translated to “of the lord”. There also exists a French song of the same name sung by Soeur Sourire, the Belgian “singing nun.” It is about Saint Dominic and his fight against the Catholic movement of Albigensianism. The pronunciation of the name Dominique is the same as Dominic in English, thereby making it an almost gender-neutral name.
Early Life
Dominique Weasley was born to Bill and Fleur Weasley in the early 2000s. Dominique Weasley was the second one of her siblings to be born to Bill and Fleur. It is possible that the couple and the three children stayed at the Shell Cottage, which was given to Bill by an aunt as an inheritance. Dominique Weasley was very close to her siblings Victoire and Louis. She is likely to have been close to her cousins too, and since both her mother Fleur and her father Bill were friends with Harry Potter, they must probably have spent time together with him and Dominique may have spent time with James Sirius Potter, Albus Severus Potter, and Lily Luna Potter.
Fleur and Bill’s Wedding
Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour decided to get married after a brief period of them dating. They had started dating after the Triwizard Tournament, and around the end of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, they had decided to get married. Their wedding happened at the beginning of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows immediately after Harry Potter was safely brought to the Burrow from his house at Privet Drive. Several close friends and members of the wizarding world attended the wedding. Harry Potter disguised himself as a Weasley cousin named Barney Weasley after taking the hair of a Muggle boy in the village of Ottery St. Catchpole. This was to prevent any unwanted people from identifying him and his location, as several Death Eaters and the members of the fallen Ministry were after him.
The wedding was a grand and lavish affair, although it was held right next to the Burrow in a big tent that the members of the house set up. Several members of the Order of the Phoenix were in attendance including Remus Lupin, Elphias Doge and a few others. Viktor Krum too came to the wedding. Harry was given more details about Dumbledore’s life by Aunt Muriel and Elphias Doge, including the fact that Dumbledore and his family stayed in Godric’s Hollow, which was the same place that Harry and his parents stayed in until they were killed.
Victoire Weasley and Louis Weasley
Victoire Weasley was the elder sister of Dominique Weasley, and Louis Weasley was the younger brother of Dominique and Victoire. Victoire Weasley was the eldest daughter of Bill and Fleur Weasley. She was born on 2 May, in either 2000 or 2001. She joined Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the year 2011.
She is the only child of Bill and Fleur, that appears in the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It is revealed that she is dating Teddy Lupin, the son of Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks and the godson of Harry Potter. Harry’s daughter Lily Luna Potter is very excited about this and wishes that Teddy and Victoire get married.
Louis Weasley is the youngest sibling of Victoire and Dominique. He joined Hogwarts much later than his elder sisters and was most likely sorted into Gryffindor house too. He is the only known male character in the Harry Potter series with Veela blood.
FAQs
Are Dominique Weasley and Louis Weasley twins?
No, Dominique Weasley and Louis Weasley are not twins. Dominque Weasley is the elder sister of Louis Weasley. They are, however, closer in age than Louis and their eldest sister Victoire Weasley who was almost in her final years at Hogwarts when the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows took place on 1 September 2017.
Is Dominique Weasley a Veela?
No, Dominique Weasley is not completely a Veela. She just happens to have Veela ancestry and is one-eighth Veela, as her great-great-grandmother was a Veela. Dominique’s mother, Fleur Delacour, was one-fourth Veela and her mother, Appoline Delacour, was half Veela. Dominique’s siblings, Victoire and Louis, are also one-eighth Veelas.
Is Dominique Weasley a Slytherin?
No, it is highly unlikely that Dominique Weasley is a Slytherin. She was most likely sorted into Gryffindor, just like her elder sister Victoire and her father, Bill. Furthermore, when Albus Severus Potter joins Hogwarts in September of 2017, Dominique is already a student at Hogwarts and is clearly mentioned that Albus is the only member of the Weasley-Potter extended family who was sorted into Slytherin and that the rest of his close relatives, if not all, are sorted into Gryffindor house.
