Thoros was born in the city of Myr as the eighth son of his parents. At a young age, he got given to the red temple of R’hllor, where he gained his priesthood. After getting tasked by the high priest to convert the fire-obsessed King Aerys II Targaryen to become a servant of R’hllor, he set out for Westeros. On reaching King’s Landing, he became the only red priest on the continent and turned away from the Lord of Light.
After Areys’s death, Thoros became a companion of King Robert Baratheon and fought in the siege of Pyke during the Greyjoy rebellion. He was the first man to breach the city’s walls with his blazing sword. After the Greyjoys’ defeat, Thoros became a frequent drinking companion of King Robert and remained in King’s Landing.
With his cheap flame tricks, Throros won many Melees. He defeated Sandor Clegane thrice but lost to Lord Yohn Royce, who used a lance after the fire in his sword died. Because he destroyed the weapons he used, Tobho Mott charged him exuberantly.
