Gollum tells Bilbo that if he wins, he will show him a way out of the tunnel, but losing will cost him his life. Bilbo then uses the ring, which makes him invincible, to escape and join the dwarves. The dwarves eventually take possession of the mountain and its treasure. Bilbo collects a small portion of the riches and returns home a wealthy hobbit.
