Jhiqui is a young Dothraki woman whose father was the Khal of Khalasar. After her people got defeated by Khal Drogo, she became a slave in his Khalasar. Jhiqui is a big-boned girl with wide hips, almond-shaped eyes, black hair, heavy breasts, and copper-colored skin. She is curvier than Irri, her fellow handmaiden, but is of the same age as Daenerys Targaryen. While she was younger, she lived with her father, the Khal of a rival Khalasar to Drogo. However, he got defeated by Khal Drogo, and she became a slave.

A Game of Thrones

After Viserys agrees for Daenerys to get married to Khal Drogo, a wedding ceremony gets held outside Pentos. Dany receives three dragon eggs, weapons from Drogo’s bloodriders, and the handmaidens, Doreah, Irri, and Jhiqui, as wedding gifts. She also gets three bloodriders Rakharo, Jhogo, and Aggo. Jhiqui begins assisting her in learning the Dothraki tongue as she becomes Khaleesi of Drogo’s Khalasar. 

After Viserys’ death and an attempted assassination of Dany at the Usurper King Robert Baratheon’s decree, Drogo promises their unborn son, Rhaego, the Iron Throne of Westeros. He begins conquering rival Khalasars and taking their people as slaves to get ships for sailing across the Narrow Sea. However, he gets wounded when he fights Khal Ogo. The injury festers into an infection. 

Desperate to save her husband, Dany asks Mirri Maz Duur to use dark magic. The maegi conducts the sacrifice, but it fails, and Dany loses her husband and baby. When his funeral pyre gets lit, she walks into it and emerges with three dragons Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal. Jhiqui follows her as they travel into the Red Waste.

A Clash of Kings

After staying in the Red Waste, Daenerys loses members of her Khalasar to disease. Among the casualties is Doreah. She finds an abandoned city in the Waste and names it Vaes Tolorro. Irri and her fellow handmaiden attempt to persuade Dany to leave the Red Waste. However, she sends scouts instead, and one of them returns with three merchants from Qarth. Jhiqui accompanies her Khaleesi to the city and places a silver bell on her braids when she destroys the House of the Undying.

A Storm of Swords

On the voyage to Astapor, Jhiqui, and Irri get sick as they had never sailed across the ocean. When Dany arrives, she​ accompanies her to bargain with Kraznys for the Unsullied. After the bargain, Dany’s maids free Rhaegal and Viserion, who burn Kraznys. Dany frees the slaves within Astapor by using the unsullied against their former masters.

A Dance with Dragons

When Daenerys becomes Queen of Meereen, Jhiqui develops a crush on her bloodrider Rakharo. After Dany marries Hizdahr zo Loraq, she accompanies her to Daznak’s Pit. However, Drogon appears at the event. To prevent carnage, Daenerys rides away on him. With her Khaleesi gone, Jhiqui leaves Meereen with Irri as part of the search parties looking for Dany across the Skahazadhan.

Relevance in Adapatation

In HBO’s Game of Thrones, actress Sarita Piotrowski portrayed the role of Jhiqui. She appeared in one episode of season 1. When Daenerys falls sick, her maids take her to a tent. While resting, Dany asks them if they have seen dragons, but they reply no. When Doreah narrates a story about how the dragons came to be, her fellow handmaiden counteracts it, stating the dragons got killed by brave men and did not come from a moon, which is a goddess.

Jhiqui: The Loyal Maid

Jhiqui was one of the people who stood by Daenerys through thick and thin. Though she had every reason to leave her, as Drogo killed her father and destroyed her people, she remained by Dany’s side, advising her on many issues. When the Queen goes missing after riding away on Drogon’s back, Jhiqui joins the search party that went looking for her.
