‘Spoiler-Free’ Summary

‘Fifty Shades Freed’ begins with Ana and Christian getting married. After the wedding, Christian takes Ana on a honeymoon and later hands her SIP as a gift. Though she tries protesting, she eventually succumbs and accepts it. 

Though married to Christian, Ana’s desire for her identity makes her leave her maiden name. However, after an argument with Christian, she changes her maiden name to his. Soon, Ana and Christian begin planning for their future as they meet an architect, who shows them plans for a new house.

Christian travels, and on his trip, Ana decides to go out with Kate, her best friend. On returning home, she discovers that she has escaped an attempt by Jack Hyde to get her. Christian gets mad at Ana for going out with Kate; this infuriates her, and after telling him how much her friends mean to her, he agrees to give her more freedom.

Elliot and Kate take their relationship to the next level, and Ana’s stepfather, Ray, gets involved in an accident. After a while, Ana learns something about herself that changes her relationship with Christian, and in a moment of weakness, he meets Elena. Ana finds out about Christian and Elena and gets furious with him. He leaves on a trip, and she gets a call from Jack Hyde, breaking terrible news about Mia to her.

In a desperate attempt to resolve the situation with Jack and Mia, Ana lies to Christian, breaking his heart. However, she successfully helps Mia but gets hospitalized because of a confrontation with Jack. Everything goes smoothly as Ana recovers, and Jack gets sent to prison. Finally, Christian apologizes to Ana for his actions. He explains his past relationship with Elena.

‘Fifty Shades Freed’ begins with Christian having a nightmare about his mother the day she died. He wakes up to Ana calling out his name as she comforts him. Ana and Christian get married and go on a honeymoon. After the honeymoon, Ana resumes her work at SIP but retains her maiden name. Christian discovers, and after arguing with her, she agrees to change her maiden name to Grey. Christian hands over SIP to Ana, making her the boss.

Now married, Christian and Ana begin planning their future as they see an architect, Gia, who Ana confronts when she notices how she acts around Christian. Christian goes on a business trip, and when Ana discovers that Kate is in town, she agrees to a night out with her. Though everything goes smoothly throughout her outing with Kate, Ana discovers that Jack Hyde had attempted to kidnap her at home but failed because she was with Kate. Jack gets arrested, and Christian returns from his trip. He argues with Ana concerning her night out with Kate, but after she argues about how important her friends are to her, he agrees to give her more freedom.

Christian then surprises Ana with a trip to Aspen with Mia, Kate, and Elliot. While in Aspen, Kate tells Ana about how weird Elliot has been acting towards her. She also begins suspecting he is cheating on her, but to her surprise, Elliot proposes to her, and she says yes. After the trip, Ray, Ana’s stepfather, gets involved in an accident and enters a coma. He survives, and on Ana’s birthday weekend, Christian surprises her with a family dinner, a charm bracelet, and a new car.

Ana realizes she is pregnant, but Christian does not take the news happily as he tells Ana that the child will come between her love for him. Furious at his countenance towards the baby, Ana argues with Christian, telling him that he should grow up and that their child will not have a childhood like his. After their argument, Christian meets up with Elena and returns home drunk. Ana learns of his meeting with Elena and stops talking to him for some days. He goes on a business trip, and while away, Ana receives a call from Jack Hyde stating that he has kidnapped Mia, Christian’s sister. Jack demands $5 million from Ana and tells her to tell no one.

Desperate to save Mia, Ana drives to the bank and requests $5 million from her joint account with Christian. The manager contacts Christian, and he asks her if she is leaving him. Not wanting to reveal anything about Mia’s kidnap, Ana tells him she is going with their baby. After escaping her guard, she meets up with Jack and hands the money over to him. Furious that Ana made him lose his job, Jack hits her hard, making her fall to the ground. He tries to kill her, but his accomplice, Elizabeth, argues with him, and Ana pulls out the gun she had and shoots Jack in the leg. Before passing out, Ana realizes that Christian came to her rescue. Jack gets arrested, and Mia gets freed. After some days, Ana recovers fully.

Christian hires a private investigator, Welsh, and discovers that he and Jack were in the same foster home. He also tells Ana everything about his relationship with Elena and how being submissive helped him fight his trauma. Christian learns from Welsh that Eric Lincoln, Elena’s ex-husband, was the one who initially bailed Jack after learning about Elena’s past relationship with Christian. Though Christian tries making Elena press charges, she refuses to do so because of shame. In retaliation, Christian buys Eric’s company and sells it.

Seven months later, Ana gives birth to a boy. She and Christian name him Theodore Raymond Grey, and two years later, she gets pregnant with a girl, who they decide to name Phoebe. Elliot and Kate also have a daughter after getting married. They call her Ava.
