General Raj Singh is a central figure in the book’s exploration of military strategy in the face of overwhelming global catastrophe. Singh’s personality is defined by his stoic acceptance of these terrible responsibilities. He approaches the crisis with a military mindset, valuing tactical advantage over emotional considerations. He represents the harsh realities of leadership during wartime, particularly in a country as populous as India. “The Whacko”

“The Whacko” represents the extreme end of survivalism in “World War Z.” He believes in the logic of sacrifice and prioritization, seeing human life through a utilitarian lens. His willingness to follow through on morally difficult decisions marks him as an unlikely hero. He challenges the reader to think about how far one should go to save humanity, and whether the ends justify the means.
